Catherine received her BA from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, in psychology and sociology with a minor in economics, and immediately entered the University of Georgia, where she received her Juris Doctorate.
Catherine Bowman began practicing in the field of insurance defense at a larger firm, and gained extensive litigation experience. She has practiced Employment law for over twenty years, in the areas of discrimination (Title VII, FMLA, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Sarbanes Oxley, the US Constitution, the Equal Pay Act), pay (the Fair Labor Standards Act), as well as handling employment contracts and severance. Ms. Bowman also consults with employers to improve human resources and employee relations and to take preventative measures and ensure compliance with employment laws.
Ms. Bowman has been awarded an AV preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell; and is in Georgia Top Lawyers, Legal Leaders. She has been rated a Superb 10.0 of 10.0 by AVVO. In 2012, Ms. Bowman was named one of two "Best Lawyers" in Savannah by the Savannah Magazine. Ms. Bowman has been named to Georgia Trend's "Legal Elite" in the practice of employment law for many years. The members of Georgia's "Legal Elite" are voted and selected by other lawyers in their practice areas and of more than 34,000 licensed attorneys in Georgia, less than attorneys. Catherine Bowman has also been active in many legal organizations. She is Past President of the Savannah Bar Association and has also served as the Treasurer and the President of the Younger Lawyer's Section; and has been on various committees for the Bar, including doctor/lawyer; grievance, and was the chair of the New Lawyers Orientation committee. Ms. Bowman is currently the Treasurer of the Federal Bar Association for the Southern District of Georgia.
Ms. Bowman is also a Certified Civil Mediator.
Catherine is married to her law school sweetheart, and they have two children - a forester and a pediatrician. When given the opportunity Catherine loves to garden, play with her orchids, and travel.
