Teresa is honored to be serving as Past-President of NELA-GA, having served as President from 2021-2022, and as an Officer and Board Member since 2016. She has more than 30 years experience in employment law, representing employees before federal and state courts, administrative agencies, in arbitration and mediation, and by informal negotiations. Her law practice began as a Litigation Partner in a major Atlanta law firm on the defense side. She then established her own employment law firm in Atlanta, Saggese Mills Law Firm, which subsequently relocated to Macon, Georgia, Teresa’s hometown and a more centralized location for the Firm’s statewide clients. The Firm has handled all areas of employment law, and after a history of representing both employers and employees, it now represents employees exclusively.

The Firm is privileged to have represented employees in all walks of life, including manufacturing and production employees, attorneys, nurses, physicians and other medical professionals, airline mechanics, administrative assistants, sales associates, construction contractors, CEOs, CFOs, broadcasters, firefighters, police officers, EMT/paramedics, airline pilots, commissioned sales representatives, engineers, entertainers, and professors, to name a few. She has represented literally hundreds of employees through her representation of one of the largest labor unions in the nation. Teresa has consistently received case referrals from clients and bar colleagues, including even the referrals of opposing counsel's family members, and the seeking of representation by corporate counsel who had formerly opposed her in employment matters.

Teresa has served on the NELA-GA Board of Directors since 2016, advancing from member at large to Secretary, President-Elect and now President. She has chaired NELA-GA’s Continuing Legal Education Committee and presided at the Georgia State Bar’s annual Institute of Continuing Legal Education Seminars from 2016 through 2018. She has also spoken at State Bar and other legal seminars on various employment law and federal trial topics, and has appeared on local television network news affiliates in Atlanta and Macon, and in print media, as an expert on employment law issues.

Teresa has been published in three legal periodicals, two in Georgia and one in California, on commercial and employment law topics, one of which was cited as "Worth Reading" by the National Law Journal. She has also served on the Georgia Supreme Court Justice's Commission on Professionalism, and as a Group Leader at law school orientation programs for incoming law students at Georgia's law schools. She has been appointed Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia, has served as a Sustaining Member of the Federal Bar Association of America, a member of the Order of Barristers Honorary Society, a member of the President's Club of Mercer Law School alumni society, a Contributing Member of the National Employment Lawyers Association, a member of the Lawyer's Club of Atlanta, and a member of the Macon and Atlanta Bar Associations.

Teresa’s civic achievements have included serving on the Board of Directors of the Athens-Clarke County Humane Society, service as an Atlanta Boy Scout Commissioner, Officer and Member of the Board of Directors of her Atlanta homeowners' association, participant in the Big Brother/Big Sister program, Literacy Action, Habitat for Humanity, the Macon Heritage Foundation, Atlanta Historical Society, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

An avid naturalist, outdoor sports enthusiast, photographer and artist, Teresa has also had a passion for restoring mid-century homes since before it was a thing on home-improvement shows. She is also a lifetime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Teresa has also established PetResQ ©, a philanthropic organization dedicated to rescuing abandoned and/or injured pets and wildlife. She has established the Atlanta Teddy Bear Patrol ©, and Macon Teddy Bear Patrol © programs, which donate teddy bears to law enforcement, fire and other emergency personnel to give to children involved in accidents or other trauma. In 2013, Teresa's Firm donated pet oxygen masks to the Macon-Bibb Fire Department, making it the only Class 1 Fire Department in the State at the time to have a full complement of the life-saving equipment for pet rescue in home fire and other emergencies. Teresa is also the proud pet parent of two cats, who have graciously agreed to allow her to live under their roof, provided she continue to spoil and place them above all beings (except her clients).
